This notice governs your access to and use of the website at bluestonechambersoflaw.com (the “website”), operated by Blue Stone Chambers of Law (the “Chambers”). It should be read together with our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.
In short: nothing on this website is an advertisement, a solicitation of work, or legal advice. Reading it does not make us your lawyers. If you have a legal problem, please obtain advice on your own facts.
1. Rules of the Bar Council of India
Advocates enrolled in India are governed by the Bar Council of India Rules framed under the Advocates Act, 1961. Rule 36 of the Standards of Professional Conduct and Etiquette, in Chapter II of Part VI of those Rules, prohibits an advocate from soliciting work or advertising, whether directly or indirectly.
This website is published in accordance with that prohibition. It is not, and must not be construed as, an advertisement, a personal communication, a solicitation, an invitation or an inducement of any kind to seek professional services from the Chambers or from any of its members.
Access to this website is granted only at the specific request of the user, and only for the user’s own information. The entry notice displayed when you first arrive at the website records that request. If you do not agree with it, please do not proceed.
2. No legal advice
The material on this website — including descriptions of practice areas, published writings, commentary, case notes and any linked material — is general in nature and is provided for information only.
It is not legal advice, is not a substitute for legal advice, and cannot be relied upon as such. Law changes, judgments are overruled, and the correct answer in any matter depends entirely on its own facts. Material that was accurate when written may not be accurate when you read it.
You should not act, or refrain from acting, on the basis of anything on this website without first obtaining professional advice on your particular circumstances.
3. No lawyer–client relationship
Visiting this website, reading its contents, downloading material from it, or sending an unsolicited communication to the Chambers or to any of its members does not create a lawyer–client relationship.
A lawyer–client relationship with the Chambers arises only where the Chambers has been formally engaged, has completed its conflict checks, and has confirmed the engagement in writing on agreed terms.
Please do not send confidential or time-sensitive information to us before an engagement is confirmed. Information sent before that point may not be treated as privileged or confidential, and we may already be acting for another party in the same matter.
4. The Chambers and its members
Each advocate named on this website practises independently. No act or omission of one is that of any other.
“Blue Stone Chambers of Law” is the name under which the advocates identified on this website practise in association on particular matters. It is not a partnership, a firm, a company or a limited liability partnership, and must not be understood as one.
Each member of the Chambers is separately enrolled with the Bar Council and is separately responsible for his or her own practice, engagements and professional obligations. Members may collaborate on particular matters; that collaboration does not make any member responsible for the acts or omissions of any other.
Accordingly, no act, omission, engagement, undertaking or professional obligation of one member is that of any other member or of the Chambers. Nothing on this website is to be read as holding out a partnership, a joint practice, or any shared or vicarious liability between the members.
Where you engage a member of the Chambers, your engagement is with that advocate, on the terms confirmed with that advocate, and not with the Chambers or with any other member.
5. No warranty; limitation of liability
The Chambers makes no representation and gives no warranty, express or implied, as to the accuracy, completeness, adequacy or currency of any material on this website.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Chambers and its members accept no liability for any loss or damage of any kind arising from the use of, or reliance on, this website or any material on it, or from any inability to access it. Where you require assistance, you must seek independent legal advice.
6. Third-party links
This website links to material published elsewhere, including law reports, journals, publishers’ websites and media outlets. Those websites are not controlled by the Chambers. Links are provided for convenience and do not imply endorsement of the linked website, its contents or its operators. The Chambers is not responsible for the content, availability or privacy practices of any external website.
7. Intellectual property
All content on this website, including text, layout, design, graphics and the Chambers’ name and mark, is the intellectual property of the Chambers or of its respective owners, and is protected under the Copyright Act, 1957 and other applicable law.
Certain writings listed on this website are published by third parties — including Eastern Book Company and SCC Online — and the rights in those works vest in the respective publishers or authors. Links are provided to the publisher’s own source. Nothing on this website transfers any right in that material.
You may read, print and cite material from this website for personal or professional reference with due attribution. You may not reproduce, republish, distribute or commercially exploit it without prior written permission.
8. Governing law and jurisdiction
This notice, and any dispute arising out of or in connection with this website, is governed by the laws of India. The courts at Chandigarh shall have exclusive jurisdiction, subject to the jurisdiction of any court or tribunal otherwise competent under law.
9. Changes
The Chambers may amend this notice at any time. The version published on this page is the version in force. Please check the date above.
