Blue Stone Chambers of Law (the “Chambers”, “we”, “us”) respects the privacy of everyone who visits this website. This policy explains what personal data we collect through bluestonechambersoflaw.com, why, and what rights you have.

It is framed in accordance with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (the “DPDP Act”), under which you are a Data Principal and the Chambers is the Data Fiduciary in respect of the data described below.

1. What this policy covers

This policy covers personal data collected through this website only. It does not cover:

• information you give us in the course of a professional engagement, which is governed by our engagement terms, by legal professional privilege and by the Advocates Act, 1961 and the rules made under it;
• websites operated by third parties which we link to, each of which has its own policy.

2. What we collect

There is no contact form, registration, account or payment facility on this website. We do not ask you to submit personal data in order to read it.

What we do not collect

We do not use advertising networks, social media tracking pixels, behavioural profiling or automated decision-making. We do not sell, rent or trade personal data. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

3. Cookies and local storage

This website uses your browser’s own storage for two purposes only:

• Essential. Recording that you have accepted the entry disclaimer, and recording your cookie choice. These are necessary for the website to function as intended and are set without consent, as permitted for necessary purposes.
• Analytics (optional). If you select “Accept analytics”, Google Analytics cookies are set to help us understand which pages and writings readers find useful. These load only after your consent, and consent may be withdrawn at any time.

The analytics service we use is Google Analytics 4, provided by Google. Where you consent, it sets cookies in your browser and reports to us, in aggregate, matters such as the number of visitors, which pages and writings are read, approximate location at city level, referring website, and device and browser type.

We have configured it so that Google Signals and advertising personalisation are disabled, and IP addresses are anonymised. We do not use it to identify individual visitors, and we do not combine it with any other data.

4. Purposes and lawful basis

Under section 4 of the DPDP Act, personal data may be processed for a lawful purpose for which you have given consent, or for certain legitimate uses. We rely on:

• Consent — for optional analytics, and for responding to correspondence you initiate;
• Legitimate use — where you voluntarily provide data for a specified purpose and have not indicated that you object, and for maintaining the security and integrity of the website;
• Legal obligation — where retention or disclosure is required by law, by a court or tribunal, or by a regulatory or statutory authority.

5. Sharing

We do not share personal data with third parties for their own purposes. Data may be processed on our behalf by:

• Google LLC / Google Cloud EMEA, which provides Firebase Hosting for this website and processes server log data in that capacity;
• Google LLC, which provides Google Analytics 4, where you have consented to analytics;
• Google LLC, which provides the email service at which correspondence to us is received.

These providers process data on our instructions under their own terms. Some of this processing may take place on servers outside India. We may also disclose data where required to do so by law or by an order of a competent court, tribunal or authority.

6. Retention

Server log data is retained for the period applied by our hosting provider, ordinarily a matter of weeks, and then deleted or aggregated. Consent records remain on your device until you clear them. Correspondence is retained for as long as needed to deal with the matter, and thereafter for as long as required by professional, regulatory or limitation requirements, after which it is erased.

7. Your rights as a Data Principal

Subject to the DPDP Act and the rules made under it, you have the right to:

• obtain confirmation of whether we process your personal data, and a summary of that data and the processing;
• seek correction, completion, updating or erasure of your personal data;
• withdraw consent at any time, as easily as it was given — withdrawal does not affect processing carried out before withdrawal;
• nominate another individual to exercise these rights in the event of your death or incapacity;
• have a readily available means of grievance redressal, and to escalate an unresolved grievance to the Data Protection Board of India.

You are also required, under section 15 of the DPDP Act, not to impersonate another person or furnish false particulars when exercising these rights.

8. Security

This website is served over HTTPS. We apply reasonable security safeguards appropriate to the very limited data we hold. No transmission over the internet can be guaranteed to be completely secure, and this is one reason why confidential material should not be sent to us by unsolicited email.

9. Questions and complaints

Any question, request or complaint about this policy or about your personal data may be addressed to the Chambers:

We will acknowledge and respond within the period prescribed under the DPDP Act and the rules made under it. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.

10. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The version published on this page is the version in force, and the date above records when it last changed.
